PCS, Care4Calais and Detention Action have launched judicial review proceedings in the High Court, challenging the Home Secretary’s plan to return asylum seekers to Rwanda and testing the legality of the policy. We take this step to prevent our members from having to operate in a dangerous, hostile and inhumane environment; and to protect refugees from this appalling policy.
So bring your signs and voices and show your support in a peaceful protest from 8:30 a.m. outside the royal courts of justice on the Strand, London.
There is a joint demonstration called by the TUC, Care4Calais, Stand Up To Racism, with a rally in front of the court from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
You can also join the day of protest online by sharing your photos during the Stand Up To Racism Twitterstorm from 11 a.m. to noon, holding up posters for selfies and sharing your photos on all social media platforms, by especially Twitter, with #StopRwanda
PCS believes that the government’s plan for Rwanda is illegal and we are determined to hold it to account for this latest scheme. We are determined to work for a more humane asylum and immigration environment. This would give our members working for the Home Office the time, space and resources they need to do their job properly and improve the refugee experience.
As we approach the hearing, which is expected to last 5 days, we want to know why you support what we are doing. E-mail firstname.lastname@example.org and show your support on social media with hashtags #RwandaDeportation and #StopRwanda
