Fighters say if the 14 men accused of gang rape in Krugersdorp are innocent, it also points to a malfunctioning SAPS
EFF statement on rape charges dropped against 14 men in Krugersdorp gang rape case
October 27, 2022
The Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) notes that Krugersdorp Magistrates Court acquitted the fourteen men charged with rape, sexual assault and aggravated robbery earlier today. They were charged with gang raping eight women who were in Krugersdorp filming a music video in July 2022. The court acquitted all fourteen men due to their DNA results which could not be linked to the crime.
Sexual violence by men against women continues to soar due to fundamental failures in the entire justice system. Injustice is easily accessible through corruption, undue interference and outright incompetence. The possibility that the DNA testing process has been compromised is a sad reality. If indeed the fourteen men are innocent, then we are further assured of the lamentable dysfunction of the South African Police Service (SAPS). This crippling incompetence is precisely why women fail to report violence and sexual violence to authorities.
Eight women today joined the young woman who Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana sexually assaulted while she was working. They also join the female servant whom the President of the State, Cyril Ramaphosa, had tortured to cover his Phala Phala
criminal activities. All of these women join millions of women who suffer grave injustices. The ANC-controlled state inflicts secondary wounds. Ramaphosa continues to babble about gender-based violence and femicide (GBVF) undisturbed by South Africans.
